How you can help prevent
PROSTATE CANCER
Your Self chec Keeping Healthy Guide
Although screening can find prostate cancer at an early stage when treatment is more likely to be successful, the medical community is still not sure if the potential benefits of screening outweigh the possible risks if something is found. It is very important to check with your doctor so you can make an educated decision about what you need to do given your age and own personal health history.
What to do
Beginning at age 40, if you have a family history of prostate cancer or are African-American, you should get a Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) and Digital Rectal Exam (DRE) yearly.
If you have no family history, Beginning at age 50, ask your doctor for information about these tests and if you should have them.

WHAT HARRY BELAFONTE, RUDY GIULIANI, HAMILTON JORDAN & ARNOLD PALMER HAVE IN COMMON & ARE NOW SAYING…
“Most men, once they are diagnosed with prostate cancer, live with it for a long time. It’s like breast cancer in that way–something they are dealing with for a long time.” –Harry Belafonte
“I was fortunate … due to the fact that I caught it early it was confined in my prostate. I had the surgery. There’s a debate about what you should do. One of reasons that we’re hearing about so many people — Norman Schwarzkopf, Joe Torre, Rudy Giuliani — having prostate cancer is because this test, this PSA test, detects this disease at a very early and curable stage.” –Hamilton Jordan (former Carter White House chief of staff)
“A 10-minute test could save his life. It certainly saved mine.” Rudolph W. Giuliani, former Mayor of New York
